From the Mortuary
TLDR: Old-school death metal gone unoriginal, but good. No major flaws here.
Review: Swedish death metal band that sounds like a typical Swedish death metal band. Could it get any more cliché than this? Well, fuck that – at least these guys know what they are doing.
From the Mortuary is an EP release after two albums and a few demos and other such releases. Even so, this band is next-to-unknown in the genre. Maybe it’s because Feral doesn’t exactly bring anything new to the genre. Everything you can hear on this EP is more or less known from bands such as Entombed or Dismember.
But that doesn’t mean that Feral is yet another useless band. On the contrary, even if their style is not exactly original. Six songs full of strong old-school death metal is what we have here and Feral is doing just fine with it.
Growling vocals are great, even if not distinguishable from others in the genre. The songs are good and the sounds are something one can’t really complain about. All in all, From the Mortuary is very solid release with its death metal and if you’re into genre, be sure to check this one out.
