King Fucking Satan
Saturnal Records
2/5

TLDR: Disco beats mixed with simple riffs get you only that far.

Review: My first impression of King Fucking Satan’s cover art was something like “These guys gotta be kidding me. Is this a joke?” Soon after I found it was not, but the surprise didn’t strike me positively. Welcome to a circus with Joker and Harley Quinn from Batman and all this combined with Satan.

If you have heard bands like Turmion kätilöt or Pain, you pretty much know the drill here. The music is simply put something like dance beats mixed with metal guitars and lots of synths. A lot of them. This is all covered by themes of Satan and the Devil, and that’s all there is to it.

The songs are really simple and rather annoying than good. The only original thing here is adding Satan to it, and that’s because the main man is known from a few black metal bands in Finland, not to mention occult literature and whatnot. But on this album it doesn’t matter. The songs are mostly horrible or mediocre at best. And everything is really repetitive.

The production is not much better. Everything sounds like a cheapass version of the bands mentioned above and randomly the band actually manages to irritate me. If you consider wearing your dance shoes and then make groovy move with the Devil, sure, this might be your cup of tea. Otherwise: avoid this one.
