FUNERALIUM have come a long way and have virtually redefined this style. They’ve taken their death/doom-based music and merged it with influences from the funeral doom and even DSBM style to create a powerful expression that outlasts all notions of relevance. Just when it’s perceived that some of the individual styles have reached their peak, FUNERALIUM turn the sound on its head so to speak and create evocative music without diminishing any of the essence. They take the best qualities and add their personal reflections of trauma and suffering to it, making it a difficult album to listen to but one that will prove to be a very rewarding one ultimately. Their expression of sorrowful and dark doom metal music is singular and deep. Fans of this style of music won’t find a better album all year to wallow in.
